Is there anybody on here who is a good custom stereo installer, that wishes to make a couple of extra bucks?

I need a double din unit installed on my car. The face plate is custom made and measured to fit correctly. However, I am looking for someone to install the unit itself. Installing it requires some easy custom brackets to be made (I have one), and will require a small amount of dremel work to get the unit to fit.

This is on an NSX, in case that matters. If anybody here is good at stereo installations or knows someone that is, please let me know. I refuse to pay a local audio store to install this. They are asking way too much ****ing money to install a stereo. I know they are overcharging my ass because they said it would only take 2 hours max.

Anyway, please let me know.
Thanks,
Nathan

I dont understand what you mean. Do you think 2 hrs is too long or you think they will charge more than 2 hrs?
I know probably one of the best in the business if you want his number. If you need brackets installed and such it probably best to do it at a shop because they will have everything on hand. Are you running this with the stock speakers? If so do you have the correct adapter to work with the stock plug in the back. It may not be as easy as you think. What are they asking to charge. I would say be ready to pay around 100$ If you want it to look worth a ****.

Is there not an aftermarket dash kit for a NSX? I don't see the purpose of making some "custom face plate".

Well they said it would take a couple of hours. But yet, to install the radio, and hook up an Sirius tuner box (which I can do), will cost anywhere from $450-600 dollars. I am sorry, but that is just too much.

The car currently has an aftermarket stereo in it, therefore it already has the appropriate wiring harness. And no, the speakers are aftermarket. The speakers are not a concern, and will not be a problem. If you would, please toss me your friends number. I will gladly give him a buzz.

Thanks,
Nathan

No, not for a double din HU. There are a few plates and aftermarket single din center consoles. But, there is no double din console. More importantly there is no double din console with a recessed finished, like the one that I have here now.

Nathan

You pretty much hit it on the head. The center console trim is cut correctly. All that I need to have done is the have the new unit wired up, and to have it mounted. I am not going to lie, the mounting will be tight, but I know it will fit.

You should not have to cut any of the center console. The only thing that I know is that there is a small part on the bottom of the CCU will need to be dremeled out. But the face plate/center console should not need to be cut. The center console does not have to be painted/finished. because I am doing that myself. I just need to he HU installed and mounted.

I will be more than happy to come down to Columbia for you to look at it. Are you open this weekend?

Thanks again,
Nathan

If you have trouble finding help, PM me. I've got a photo album full of the installs I've done, including some stuff like what you're describing (although never in anything like an NSX...)

Should I swing by on Saturday so I can let you guys see this, and give me a quote?

I think the address to your store is on your website, so I can just map it online. I dont mind driving down to Columbia if it will save me a few hundred $$.

Thanks,
Nathan
