MKIV interior coming soon. Making the MKIV cluster work in my car, can't use the cluster out of the '02, have to find one that isn't CANBUS. (<--silly VW ish)
Roof rack coming soon, have to hold the new bike somehow.
Bonrath grill and upper piece/hood extension kind of thing will be here this week.
Paintwork coming right after I get those, textured top bumpers and grill install...
Still haven't finished my headliner, just going to wait until I do teh rest of the interior.
Lost a couple gears the other night leaving work, doing a rolling burnout for the heck of it. Got second gear back later that night, so I'm only down 1st now. And as such, tranny is getting pulled in a week or two. Uprgraded synchros, going to leave most of the gear ratios alone, but might change 5th out. If I find a deal between now and then, might do some fab work and go for a 6 speed. Also going to do a lighter flywheel, maybe a different clutch, we'll see how the Sachs clutch is holding up. While I've got everything torn apart, going to do a whole bunch of PM at this time as well.
Oh yeah, and updated the sig w/ a link so you can actually see a "virtual car show profile" for the little bugger.

I bet that is a fun car to drive -
Question:
Why do you not run outside air into the airfilter, instead of the heat soaked air under the hood?
The reason I ask is -
The Volvos, both N/A and turbo, run noticeably better with cooler air drawn in from in front of the radiator. As you can see in this picture (not my car) the filter is shrouded, and the duct beside the battery pulls in air from in front of the radiator.

The PO of the car installed that intake, and I have no freakin clue where the heatshield is. I haven't had the time or the tools to fab something up. I agree, it just doesn't make sense.
I am however, thinking about taking the stock headlights and a piece of dryer hose, and getting all sorts of Riggs on the intake though. not really

Alright, here's the skinny/ more details (maybe that would be the fat...?)
exterior: Got one piece of my Bonrath in the mail, waiting on the other piece to arrive. As soon as it gets here I'm having those painted. I'm also going to be pulling the bumpers, and having them textured at this time with actual bumper texturizer (tops only). Might be ordering new headlights within the next week or so, just trying to finalize the decision on which ones (MK5s, MK3 GTI smoked E-codes, or another set of the MKIVs)
interior: MK4 heated GTI seats are downstairs. The dash is waiting to be pulled. Headliner, A, B, & C Pillars are out of the car waiting to be wrapped in alacantra or painted. Finishing plans for amp rack & fiberglass sub box. looking for some nice looking window cranks, the custom type ones, if you see any anywhere.
Car is making it's way up to BG next weekend for a little bit of R&R. Parts list is as follows, sorry about leaving the prices on there, I just copied it from a txt doc where I'm planning things:

OMG:eek: That puts the Riggs intake to shame! Does it have to be Rubbermaid or can it be Pampered Chef?

If you're talking about my PGA Tour addiction, sometimes I take more than two. It's usually roughly equal to the number of brew ha-has that I've consumed. Sorry to disappoint you with engine pulling, tranny rebuilding, & general car modifications. :squint: :)

No, he's right, and since it has nothing to do with anything in this thread really, I was making a new thread inviting everyone to come on in and have a chortle. Effin VWs and their effin electrical problems.

Well, it also has no grill, so there. :-p
I'm thinking about keeping it like that. Kind of a sleeper/self destructed look. No one would ever expect it to run like it does while it looks like it does.

That's fine, yours will say, "UNDR4K" or "RODNOK" maybe "BLEWUP" or just simply "NTSWNGR" :-p
I'd say something about the Civic, but well it's a Civic need I say more. (No offense to some other the nice ones around of course) Plus, how can you get a tag for it when it hasn't passed emissions 6 times anyway?

Go ahead but that subaru took your nonheadlightworkingass down to the parts store with no issues at all:D
Say something about the Civic.... fine with me but remember you were asking to borrow the car when you trashed the tranny in the Golf:eek: :true:
oh and have you got the lights working yet??

Yes, all electrical (wiring) problems have been resolved. I ripped out the entire relay system that was in place. I then rewired the previously (not by me) cut factory wiring. After that, I pulled EVERY fuse in the car. While attempting to find where the headlight ground was bad, I blew one fuse so I knew about it. I found one more fuse that was blown, and one that was iffy. Those were replaced. I then rewired the headlight from your rewiring. I also sanded down the metal inside the headlight housing to provide a better ground.
Now that the headlights were working properly (highs and lows on both lights), I rewired the fogs. They are now working properly again. The only thing left to fix again is the passenger side sidemarker light that we unhooked while troubleshooting everything else. I just didn't feel like effing with in anymore after I finally got my headlights working (AFTER 3 DAYS AND 10-15 HOURS, not counting turbolover02s labor).
Gotta love Volkswagens. :D

But on a side note, I feel your pain. My 84 BMW e30 has had its share of electrical problems.
