I just got a 99 sonoma (2wd, v6) and I would like to lift it up about an inch or two... i remember some aquantance at one point lifting his truck with just some shackles on the left springs... does that sound right?

I know I could just add a leaf in the back, but what about the front... just new springs?

thought I would ask here...

You can just flip the rear axle to position it below the springs, but that may get you 4+"...on the front, I dunno.

Does it have torsion bars in the front? if so- just crank them a little to get you a small amount of lift. I wouldn't crank them alot because it will mess up all the other geometry.
In the back- you could do a shackle kit. It just adds longer shackles to raise the truck from the springs however much longer the shackles are. It's a pretty cheap and easy way to get some lift in the back.

The 2wd GM S-trucks are coil spring in the front. Longer springs will still be limited by suspension geometry and will ride much stiffer.

Look at a fabtech kit. They are the 2wd suspension lift kings.

Scroll about halfway down for the 2wd S-series kit. Front spindles, rear helper leafs, shocks and hardware. It will be much better than a pieced together kit.

What are you going to do with the truck? Fabtech is good but expensive. It will ride like sh with the torsion bars turned. Look into a cheap body lift.

hmm, thanks guys... but i've decided to leave the suspension stock and see how large of a tire i can fit in there with stock springs.
