Rather than crap up the 360 elite thread, i'll create this.
it is pretty close to halo 2, i think the single player will be more mind blowing, with all the physics and on screen effects to support 12-16 players, they had to dumb down the multiplayer a little, more so than they did with halo 2.
the new weapons, and balance with the old weapons is awesome, i was never a halo fanboy, but i played online a little, and i'm really enjoying the halo 3 beta, best $0 i've spent in a loooong time :)
there are 3 types of grenades, not 4, two carried over from halo 2, and the addition of the brute spike grenade (awesomely deadly indoors), and you can carry 2 of each of those.
then you have a secondary carry slot assigned to the X button, this slot can hold 1 item, reguardless of what it is. items available for this slot are the portable grav lift, bubble shield, energy drainer, and trip mine.
the grav lift is cool for reaching high places, like scaling a wall in CTF when you havent opened the front gate yet on high ground, it's also pretty cool to deploy when someone is trying to run you over in a warthog or mongoose, their vehicle launches up in the air.
bubble shield is good in hot situations when you're about to die, king of the hill, protecting the flag, etc. it's cool because nobody can shoot you, but you can enter/exit the bubble at will to fire at them, throw grenades, etc. and it's well balanced (not unfair) because anyone can enter your bubble and shot/nade/melee you at will, also, vehicles can drive right in and run you over.
energy drainer is nice if you can learn how to use it effectively, basically you drop it, and anyone within the visual radius will have their shields drained for an easy kill... this (liek the plasma pistol) will also shut down the drive system on vehicles. i like to get someone in the energy drainer and then shot the energy drainer for a little explosion after their shields are gone (works about liek a plasma grenade when you do it like that) good for an easy kill.
the trip mine is pretty simple, drop it and anyone that triggers it dies, killing anyone else in the close vicinity. good for protecting the flag during capture the flag, etc. a lot of betrayals because it's hard to be aware of them at all times, and random drops often get teammates killed.
other than that, the gameplay is basically the same, like i said, the weapon damage/aiming has changed, making it a little more balanced, yet challenging at the same time, also the grenades arent as strong, so noobs just lobbing grenades everywhere dont get as many kills, sometimes its aggrevating, but all in all pretty welcomed.
also, the head shots are harder to get, with all weapons, but it seems like when you do get one, they are really powerful (almost realistic). i find this aggrevating a little as well, cause there are a large number of people out there with wicked aim, and they can take you down quick.
dual wielding now is a little better because you can independantly reload which ever side you want. no more dual wielding the needler though, but they increased the single needler strength if your reticle is red.
i'm sure i'm forgetting a lot of things, but this will get some talk started :)
