I have owned my 1998 SS/T since new and I'm finally getting around to lowering the truck. I had plans to do this weeks after buying the truck. I've had too many projects I guess.

Anyway, I want to lower the truck around 3" in the front and 4" in the rear. I'm thinking about going with the Belltech drop spindles and lowering leaf springs. Has anybody had any experience with them? I want to use the lowering leafs because I just don't want to cut and grind on my truck for the hangers used in most other lowering kits. What springs would I have to use for the drop spindles for a 3" front drop? Are there and other modifications I need to look out for? Thanks!

Be sure and get the Belltech nitro drop shocks for all four corners too.

If you do any towing with it- I would make sure it can still tow after the rear spring install. Some of the lowering springs have a greatly reduced load carring ability because they are designed to give more to lower the truck. You may want to consider air bags in the back at least to retain the towing/ cargo that the truck had when it was new. Airbag stuff is cheap these days and there are probably several companies that make bolt on kits for your truck.

No dont. They absolutely suck. When I worked at hunters just about everyone came back with the seals blown out.I would either go with the DJM cal-max or the Toxic Shocks drop shocks.Plus the Belltech shocks are way over priced. The DJM lowering kit for the 1994-01 dodge trucks is pretty nice and less than half the price of belltech.

The DJM kit I saw didn't have lowering leaf springs for the rear. I'm not going to replace the front hangers. I want a bolt on kit because I refuse to cut or grind on my truck.

Oh yeah sure everyone knows Toxic shocks are better than Bell tech, thats why on any truck forum you log onto recomend Belltech 1000:1 to Toxic shocks. I replaced the toxic shock that were totally fd up that came with th DJM lowering kit on my truck. I think that the DJM kit is borderline crap, I would go with Mcgaughys drop kit all the way around with the belltech shocks or bilsteins.

I am considering trashing this DJM kit I have and going with Mcgaughys.
