FYI........We just bought a Wii, Well we just traded our Gamecube and controllers in for credit at Gamestop for Wii stuff but kept the Gamecube games, since it's advertised that they are compatable with the Wii, Well, when we put in a Gamecube game this morning, it didn't work. After looking online as to why it didn't work, I find out that you have to have a Gamecube controller to play Gamecube on a Wii because the Wii remote and controller isn't compatable.
So now we have to go out and buy a Gamecube controller.
Gotta love technology!!:shake:
So if you are thinking about buying a Wii and have Gamecube games, get the Gamecube remote.

Yup I got one too :D.
Also pick up a gamecube memory card while your at it because you cant save gamecube games to the wii harddrive.
I have mine on the internet and its sweet. I already have a couple regular nintendo games downloaded and some super nintendo. Oh and I got mariokart for the 64 also heh.
Regular nintendo games are normaly 500 points (100 points is a buck so $5 bucks)
snes games are 800 or $8 bucks
sega genesis are 800
n64 are 1000
They keep updating the list of virtural console games every few months. Personaly thats my favorite part about the wii so far.
Keep in mind also depending on what kind of system game you download you will need a certain controler aswell. When you are on the download screen for a game it will show you a picture of compatible controlers.
normally nes games you can just use the wii controller
snes you can either buy that old school wii controller that they sell or use a gamecube controller.
and n64 you use the gamecube controller aswell.
The virtural console games are downloaded to the hardrive on the wii. Of course a regular nes game is much smaller than a n64 game and so on. But it will still take a while to fill it up. Plus nintendo was smart and you can use any SD card like most of us already have in our camera's to save the games too aswell if your system is getting full. Another awesome thing is if your system is getting full and you dont have an sd card you can just take some games off of your system. Now your probably thinking wait wont I have to pay for it again? Nope when you go back to the purchasing page for the virtural console games nintendo keeps up with what you have purchased. If you ever take a game you have purchased off your system you can download it again at any time.
Sorry for the book here but I saw your post and these are just some things people dont normally now about so I wanted to give you a heads up.
Defenatly get hooked up to the internet it makes the system so much better.

You can use the classic controller to play gamecube games, but it's combersome on the more complicated ones. The best is to pick up a cordless controller or 2 for the cube so you aren't tethered to it for these games, especially if you are hooked to a large screen tv - don't want to go blind. Congrats on the Wii purchase, they rock, lots of cool little features to play with. DL the weather channel, zoom all the way out to where you see the entire earth, grab a corner of it and fling the remote - sends our little plant a spinnin

Thanks for all the info. I haven't found where the gamecube controller gets plugged into the Wii. Where, on the Wii is the port?
Thanks! And I will definately be downloading some game too! :) My arms are killing me from playing this morning! lol

If you have it sitting upright there are two flaps that pop up. One has the 4 gamecube controller ports. The other smaller flap has the two memory card slots.
I know what you mean by being tired. Me and my fiance did a few boxing matches and I felt like I just did a workout

on the side if it's laying down or top it it's vertical almost the whole side flips down and there are 4 GC controller ports

I want a Wii! I'm busy with Forza2 now, but I might get one when I get bored with it. How much did they give you for a trade on the game cube?
