I'm looking forward to TFII more than anything right now. Crysis is going to be gorgeous but I'm betting the online play isn't going to be very good like Far Cry.
i've never been to into pc games, but some of these new ones look so hot i have to try them

Did you have to go cheap on the video card? That's where you're going to be hurting big time. I'd like to build a new Intel system.

I'm thinking about watercooling my 3400+ and getting another 6600GT. That should help it out pretty good!

Why are you using PS/2 adapters for USB mouse and keyboard when you have a bunch of open USB ports
I don't have a pic of mine but it is:
-Epox mobo
-Athlon 3700+
-2gb DDR
-Asus GeForce 512mb 7950GT
-Seagate 7200.10 SATA 320gb hdd
-200gb backup drive
-DVD-rw
-21 inch Sony desk hog
-500w Ultra PSU
-XP Pro (I'll never use Vista)
I'll probably stick a Core2Duo in there by the end of the year. This was just a machine to get me by until I could really build a hot rod. I'll change the CPU, motherboard, and RAM. Everything else will stay the same.

Heh at the time I guess there was no reason, now I have less usb ports open because I keep the little cable for the digital camera, mp3player, wifi for the wii ext. plugged in.
I hear you on the vista too. Such a memory hog for nothign but looks. I was looking at laptops for my fiance and I noticed there selling them with 1gb ram and running vista. Thats just stupid, vista can eat up 2gigs let alone 1.

Yea, I hate Vista. You know, IBM/Lenovo Thinkpads are still sold with XP.
most oems offer you a choice between xp and vista now

I just got done building my friend a budget gaming computer:
-Asus P5B plus
-C2D 6450
-2gb Kingston HyperX
-320gb Seagate 7200.10 SATA
-Asus SATA DVD-RW
-Asus GeForce 8800 GTS 640mb video
It runs really good.. scored 8700 in 3dMark 2006 which isn't bad considering the computer was only about $1200 to build. It should be able to run any game out now and that comes out for the next year or two. If any help is needed a simple CPU/Video card upgrade can take care of it.
It could have been done a little cheaper but I told him to spring an extra couple hundred for the video card.. it is well worth it.

I'm gonna bring it with my new system in the process of being built.
Asus M2R32-MVP
2gb OCZ DDR2 ram
AMD Athalon 64 x2 6000+
Western Digital 74 GB 10K SATA for OS
250 gb ide for storage - soon to be upgraded
Acer AL2216W for viewing pleasure
In the process of picking out SLI dual video cards.
Hope this will do the trick.
Oh yeah I will be running XP for a little longer till Vista has most of its flaws ironed out.

Its about time for me to build a new system. Call of Duty 4 coming out will be my go-ahead for putting together a new rig.
It has been probably 3 years since I put together a machine...is it finally possible to build a fast computer that doesnt make the room it is in sound like a wind tunnel? Preferably without having to go to watercooling?

The antec Nine hundred case I got for my rig is amazingly quiet. It has 3 120mm fans and a huge 200mm fan on top. It also has room for 2 more 120's, one on the side and one that mounts on a plastic bracket behind the hard drive bay.

I have noticed that. I put it together 2 weeks ago and it is rather dusty inside already. Time to take her outside and turn the leaf blower on her.
