Ok, so they cut the price but I have read that a new "falcon" 65nm chip is coming and that there is a "Zepher" version out now. I do not have a hd tv yet and not sure how important hdmi is for me. But should it be?
I probably wont buy one until Nov but what to buy is the question.

The stripped-down model is $270 but I wouldn't recommend that one. The model with the hard drive is $350 and also has HDMI. You could buy the $270 model and buy the hard drive later but it's a $100 add-on; buy $350 and save $20. Not sure if the price of that hard drive will be coming down anytime soon.
One of these days I'll buy a 360 and it'll be the premium ($350 model).

FWIW...I just bought a used premium 360 with Forza 2 and an extra controller for $225 off of a free classified site. Of course, if it dies - I'm screwed

I get the dif between the versions my question is the new motherboards they are supposed to put in them. Are they going to be worth the extra money and for what I assume would be a better system?
Yes. If you can find a 360 with a lot number of 728 or higher, you'll be golden. I have a 726 lot number Elite, and it has the additional CPU heatsink. I'm not sure if it has the Falcon chipset, but I've read that 728 is very likely to be the Falcon
The lot number is listed on the white label on the box.

I haven't been actively searching very hard, but I haven't found anyone carrying the 20gb system with HDMI yet. I tried BB in m'boro, hickory hollow, and gamestop & Target in 'boro... supposedly they're out there, you just have to find 'em

I was told that it would. The Elite boxes say that it does, the core says it has HD A/V cables or something like that

 Thats what I needed to know. I have read on another forum that they are on the slow boat from china and should be ready by fall.
Will it say on the box if it has HDMI?
Yep. Someone posted a pic on some xbox forum and the box had HDMI and also "Zepher" printed on it. So one can assume if the box has a 728 or higher lot like Ben has pointed out and "Falcon" all should be well.
Thanks everyone. Holler if you see one.

Just got back from BB in HH. Their "Pro" System boxes had 729 on the sticker.
Elite Box -
"HDMI AV Cable
Component HD AV Cable
Ethernet Connectivity Cable"
Pro Box -
"Ethernet Connectivity Cable
Component HD AV Cable"
So I'm guessing the box will say HDMI cable if it has the HDMI port. The white sticker on the pro box said it was Lot 729.

I thought the Pros would be shipping without a cable, but with the HDMI port?
I decided I was too impatient to go to ten stores looking so I just bought an elite:cool:

All xbox 360's have a 3yr warranty on the 3rings with them. Of course I paid like $50 extra because the 3yr warranty on everything, before the new warranty was announced.
After 3yrs it will not matter because some new system will be out then and the 360 will be a closet ornament.
