This wasdonated to me by my father. It was one of his employees who is no longer with the biz. I dont know much about the puter. Im guess its got a older version of XP on it? Im gonna have to get a wireless router for it and a card. Is there one out there in the market I should look at thats ressonbly priced? Its going to be used mostly by my gf for school work, and by m,e now on the couch so I can be on the interweb and watch tv. Hell yes!

Get the RAM to 1GB, make sure you're running a lean system with only the OS and a few basic programs. You'll be fine!

... just make sure she doesn't install all the CRAP.

- Weatherbug
- DING!
- Google Desktop
- Etc

Run just Office, may it be OpenOffice or Microsoft and the basics. Make sure things are not installed that will hog resources in the background. Examples of those are the few items I touched on above.

that'll do just fine, I have a 1.4 celeron with 256 ram, so like half the laptop that one in the post is, and it works just fine if I am not trying to do anything crazy like photoshop or something. but an extra 512 ram never hurt anyone

Should be fine. The 2800+ was an alright chip. I would say overclock it but its probably hot enough in a laptop.

Like stated above keep the system low on processes. My xp install runs about 23 fully booted.

It should have a wireless card built in that supports 802.11g. It should be fine. You may just need a driver (http://www.emachines.com/support/product_support.html?cat=Notebooks&subcat=M-Series&model=M2350) if it's not showing up.

Agreed... but a LOT of emachines skimped to keep costs down. :(

If it doesn't, you're on the money, just grab a cheap PCMCIA flavor and you'll be set. :)

Yes they do, but according to the specs on their site for the M2350, it has 802.11g built in.

No, it will plug into the router. Most routers have a few ports for you to plug your desktop in.

I'd go with e-bay, but that's always a risk, but it is so much cheaper on e-bay, and I've not had problems with the one laptop battery I ordered

probably a popup blocker. go into settings and disable the popup blocker and see if that helps. You should be able to go in and edit what it allows and what it doesn't once you find that this is the problem.
