How 'bout driving 30 miles, then pulling up to the line and cracking out a mid-8 second pass at 167 on DRs. That junk is just silly. Same guy that built this motor, built Cooter's. Wonder if he'll go 8s?

If years ago = last weekend, then ya got me:squint:
He was crushing the other true street cars. I guess you should round up those "years ago" cars and bring 'em to Memphis, so they can breeze through the field and pick up their trophy. :)

That is a dang sharp Nova!!! Hard running car too.
There have been True Street/Wild street cars in the 7's for a couple years now. Willie Figueroa (sp?) has been running 7's after the 30 miles cruise since 2000. :stare2:
Now these cars going 6.80's on a 10.5" tire at 200+mph..... :dead: :panic:

I actually have a freind that drives an 8 second car on the street (limited) but he does drive it. He had trouble with his '60 and the trans and went back to an auto. At the MPH, the car should have gone 7.80's .90's.
Buying a used Pro Stock motor helps you get a head start! ;)

No no no.. The 6 sec cars are NOT street cars. I was talking about the 10.5 Outlaw cars.
ANY of the true street type cars that can dip under 8.50 is a seriously bad ass mofo!!!
And I think with him in the .20's in Memphis would put him close to or in the 7's at a better track (Orlando/Bradenton/Englishtown)

Is there not anyone that remembers Nick Scavo's 65 Impala that ran 8.6's on 10.5" ET Streets in the late 90's? What about Nick Gaglione's Vette, and Chuck Samuel's Camaro? Does nobody remember Tim Lynch's fox body stang, or Glidden's maroon and cream fox?

Yes, many were from the Chicago area. The guy I mentioned above about went broke trying to keep up w/ Bob Hood.

Yep, a lot of those guys are from Chicago. Back then, they were called the Northshore Mafia. Bob Hood ran with them as did a bunch of other. The point, I'm trying to make (as is Ashley, I think) is that 8 second street cars are not anything overly new. Are they any less impressive, no. They are impressive as all get out. But, back in the earlier days (mid 90s) of NMCA, Pro Street was running 8's on street tires after a 30 mile cruise.
