I scooped a el-cheap-o Sigma 10-20mm wide zoom yesterday and snapped a new pic to test it out. Tell me what you think.
As shot with my Nikon D80 except one notch (low) on the sharpening in Nikon Picture Project v1.7 and the resize of course.
I know I chopped the building, but I had no choice because I was backed up against a sign. :\

Thanks, mang. I'm still such a noob with this D80. I'm surprised you like it actually.

Very nice picture. The focus isn't on the buildings anyway so thats just secondary. The statue and the lines on the ground really draw your eye right into the subject of the picture. Good color, no/low noise, and sharp as can be. Great job.
What ISO were you using as well as shutter speed and aperture? I'm a D80 user as well and I cant get high ISO shots without throwing a ton of noise into the mix.

The building was slightly lit, so
WB - incandescent
Focal length -10mm
F/5.6
Exposure - 1.3sec
ISO - 125
Program - manual
If you want more info just save it to your PC and right click properties, summary, and then advanced to get the exif. :)
FWIW I use the lowest ISO possible unless I'm trying to stop action something. I try to control everything mostly between shutter speed and F stop. The ISO is the last thing I ever screw with when dialing in my night stuff.
But this may not be the right way to setup since I never really read a how to manual.

The sigma 10-20 is a great lens. It's on my list.
I think a smaller aperture would have worked better on this, the buildings are pretty soft. It's a cool shot though.

Thanks guys. I've still never figured out how to get EXIF data out of a picture thats been posted somewhere. That solves that.
You're doing it right by my standards. I try to leave ISO as low as possible and alone at all possible costs. I do everything by aperture and shutter speed settings.
Only thing I would have changed about the photo was to clone out the handicap sign but I know you said you didn't get that far into the editing process.

I was kind of scared of the Sigma brand, but this 10-20mm is pretty sharp! :)

Download iexif. You don't have to DL the pic, just right-click on the photo on the internet.

Shot looks good for a "el cheapo" lens.
Great picture. Im still trying to work out the noise in my backround of photos. Trees moving, leafs making small movements.

Speed up the shutter, adjust F/stop, and ISO to compensate. Make sure to adjust WB for whatever light you shooting under (cloudy, sunny, etc).
