OK folks...I acquired a laptop from someone and it has Adobe PS CS2 V9.0.2 installed...
Is this a sufficient enough version to edit photos with? I really have no clue what I have so any direction would be helpful since I have never used PS...ever...yes...it is a pretty big rock. :(

CS2 is great. CS3 is the newest one but a LOT of people still use CS2 (myself included). You can do anything imaginable in it as long as you have the know-how (which thats what I lack, I'm very limited to basic stuff because I dont have the time or patience to learn all of it).

It's a huge rock.
It has more features than you can easily learn unless you are a serious graphic artist/photo editor.
I like Photoshop "Elements" better, not so hard on the equipment, and more basic in nature - but if you got it free!!!!!

I just got Version 3 for free. I can't do **** with it. It's like trying to work on a space shuttle. And I've never worked on a space shuttle.

if you mess with it enough, you can figure it out
remember rule # 1, if something don't work, you are on the wrong layer 99% of the time.
rule 2, use the polygonal lasso tool, it rocks. and use CTRL+C and CTRL+v a LOT

My brother suggested photoshop elements, as cs2 and cs3 are very involved and take a while to learn.
Im sure cs2 will do anything and everything you want it to do.

I would suggest picking up a book like Adobe photoshop in a classroom or something like that for new users. It will have several simple tutorials that will help you get a basic grasp of what steps to take for a given process. There are even photoshop books dedicated to editing photos, so you should have plenty of choices.
