I got the Nikon D40x for Chistmas, but have an opportunity to swap it for the Canon Rebel XTi?

Should I do it?

My dad has the Canon already, and he has a 75-300m lens that I would be able to use whenever I want.

The Nikon doesn't have a built in sensor cleanser, and has 3 focus points
the Canon has built in sensor cleaning and 9 focus points

Keep the D40x and buy some glass, mang! ;) I got my sister one and she loves it. It makes images just as good as my D80 and the D80 is as good as the D200 image wise.

I voted for the Canon since your dad already has one and you'll have access to more lenses. Both Nikon and Canon make good cameras.

I know you can use any EF or EF-S lens with the Canon, but isn't the D40x limited on the lenses you can use with it?

The cleaning I couldn't care less about but 9 > 3 and with your dad having glass its already a bonus. The 40X is a good camera and I prefer Nikon's user interface over Canon but I'd take a XTi and deal with the interface over a 40X personally.

I think I'm gonna go for the Canon.
