And purchased a Canon Digital Rebel XTi...I am excited about this new hobby that I am going to give my hand a try at. I surf a bit over on a site that Bob-E recommeneded a few weeks ago (POTN). Lots of great info over there...and there are several folks who do this on here as well...

Once I get some time...maybe this weekend...I'll post some pics to see what I can come up with...

Wish me luck!!

Ron

Shoulda got a Nikon. :-p

Seriously though its a GREAT camera. What lens did you pick up with it? Did you get a tripod or any filters? I always look forward to seeing pictures and we're here to help if you have any questions. Above all else just remember to enjoy it.

It was between the Nikon D40x and the XTi. The impression I got from many different people who own both is its like the difference between a Remington and a Mossberg 12 ga shotgun...Ford / Chevy, Coke / Pepsi, They are all decent enough for me :)

I got the XTi kit that comes with the 18-55 lens. I also picked up a 75-300mm f/4-5.6 lens (real good price).

No filters yet as I just got the camera yesterday however it is the next thing on the list to get. If anything just a UV filter to get me started.

As far as tripods I will have to cheap for now because there are some shots that I have in mind that are going to take a little longer exposure than me just holding it and from some of the other posts a good tripod is just out of my range now.

I feel fortunate just to get the camera. There are several spots in Prattville AL where I live where I want to take some shots of the car (gotta wash the dang thing now :D).

I will be picking everyones brain as to technique and I am sure I will ask the most newb of questions as this is the only SLR I have ever owned...everything else has been PnS cameras.

Pick up the accy bag with the battery and UV filter to start with too. I didn't think there was anywhere around the house you would get out of the car at
