For those of you who auto-x/road race, what are your general opinions of a watts link setup versus a panhard bar setup. I've been looking at various ways to improve the handling on the GT500 and other than the coil-over setup I put on the car, I was looking at this (http://fays2.net/fays2_watts_link_11_.html) as a possibility.

Griggs has been making them for the SN95 cars for awhile. Here is a link to their Watts link for the 96-2004 GT. LINK (http://www.griggsracing.com/index.php?cPath=4332_4310_4348_4322_2045_3740)
The link has their overview on it's benefits.

Do the new body style mustangs come with a panhard bar from the factory? If so, a watts link isn't going to give you much over the panhard bar. It has no roll center like a panhard, but othewise it does the same job.

The panhard bar itself is fine. Replacing the one on the car with one that has spherical bearings instead of bushings would help a little. I really doubt you would notice much difference in any lateral locating device until you fix other compliance problems though.

Heaven forbid you actually buy something that works as advertised. Bruce is smart and knows how to make a Mustang go around a corner. They get two thumbs up from me.:up:

Yep. If I had the money I'd get Griggs. For quality without breaking the bank MM does the job well.

This is your answer. Not really worth the effort other than bling. Both are just lateral axle locating devices. They DO the same thing. A Watt's link will be symmetrical in left and right turns where a panhard is not. This is not something you will notice unless driving at 10/10 on a road coarse.
Currently Maximum or Grigg's are your only choices as far as I'm concerned.

A panhard bar works worse as suspension travel increases.

Watts and torque arm, dump the panhard? What will that do?

Cost a lot. Probably not handle any better than a properly tuned TA and Panhard set up.
