I went down to In-tune this weekend in Charleston, TN and had the privilege of meeting Scott. I want to start off by saying that he is extremely careful to make sure everything is perfect before he tunes and making sure that it is flawless before he lets you leave. I had vacuum leaks that he jumped right in and fixed for me because he knew I wouldn't get an accurate tune other wise. He could have easily looked over them and shoved me out the door without me even knowing better.
I don't think I could have left untuned if I wanted to. He was also EXTREMELY educated on tunning cars. Not just f-bodies. Again, huge props for this guy. All his reputation was true.
My biggest concern for the day wasn't wot. I was looking for part throttle tuning and getting my car running right. Drive after drive he data logged and made adjustments. During this time, he realized that the maf was sending bad signals and ended up cleaning and descreening the maf and cleaning it for me. Again, this was still all included within the price.
After the hours of fine tuning the part throttle, he put in an anticipated tune and strapped it down to the dyno. Almost perfect the first time. The second run was the one we ended up going with after messing with the timing.
On to the only thing anyone is here to see, the numbers. Remember, this is on a MUSTANG Dyno that has been referred to as the "Heartbreaker." This dyno is rough even for a Mustang.
After all was said and done,
Mustang Dyno numbers
352.1 HP
341.7 TQ
For they DynoJet guys, he said his dyno is 14% lower than others, so that gives me,
converted DynoJet numbers
409.4 HP
397.3 TQ
The reason I needed the tune was because I just got a new cam installed that was custom designed by PatrickG. I asked him for a cam that would have good torque numbers and have a strong midrange. I'm not trying to have huge peak numbers and I wanted something the would primarily be fun on the streets and have good response autocrossing. Also still decently quick at the strip.
Needless to say, I'm extremely happy with the results. I think he designed a great cam. It shows that you can make decent power without going with a huge cam. This cam actually drives better than my old MTI T1 cam that was a 221 .558, and that cam drove great. I'm definitely happy with the results with my limited mods and even being through cats.
