and I knew the 275/40 goodyear f1's were a decent tire, and they impressed me in the rain the other day. I guess as a dd it just makes good sense to have a 'smarter' wheel/tire combo on ur ride.
Well, the story isnt over! I figured what the hey, lets see just how good the traction is with these things, so I dropped it into thrird at about 65 on the interstate last night and hammered it.......... it is the first car I have ever owned that fish-tailed on me at 65+ mph on dry pavement!! I love it! I smoked them to about 80 mph then upshifted, I probably coulda broke them loose in 4th, but didn't want to push my luck that much...made me feel al giddy like a kid at christmas...

I had 275/40 falcons with my ROH's and when you hit it in third would do the same. Scary but lots of fun.

mine look like doo-doo right now cause I put sn95 axles in the rear, so they stick out just a tad, like a half inch, but let me tell about grip!!!! 17x10.5 out back and 17x9 up front with 275's all around, man this thing takes to corners like a true sport car should now. it is actually set up pretty well for corner carving as it is, just need some new sway bars. I think I must have been a dumb ass to ever think the welds(big/little) actually helped me out in a straight line that much over a standard aluminum wheel/tire combo, cause I not only feel no difference in straight line accelleration, but the stability is soooooooo much better at high speeds(we wont say how high).....and i can now drive in the rain!!!!over 35mph!

Can you snap a few pics of the wheels and tires from behind. I am running the SN axles myself but plan on going to a 10 or 10.5 wheel and 275 rear tire. Just trying to get an idea of how far they gonna stick out.

Yours looks good. I like the polished rims with the silver.

the f1's? I had them in the back room at the shop, took them off a t/a a while back with 3/4 tread. I figured they were good tires looking at them, they have a nice tread design. Maybe that is why I can break them loose at 65....they just look good?

Oh, they look great!!

I went from Firestone SZ50's to those and it was like driving on ice. The SZ's would about hook in first and the F1's would spin at any speed in second.

Which F1's are you running? My pops has a set of F1 d3's on 509ci 70 chevelle 285/40/18 seem to work good if your out of 1st gear(unbelievable in rain) and has lasted longer than continental.

Nice to see that they fit the car. I figured I would start hanging around on here and see what it's all about.

It was good to meet you the other day, too bad it was raining like crazy. hope you didn't get drenched going home.

do you have 4 or 5 lug Kel? I can get 275/40 nitto for 154.99, the 315's are on back order in my warehouse right now though.

Micky Thompson ET Drag radial is better than the NITTO.

They should have something in a 315.

that is what i was hoping to hear. I NEED good street manners, are they ok in the rain? my M/T tires were terrible in the rain! :fear: :dead: = mickeys in teh rain i have some & got caught in the rain going down mcgavock pike & the 03 ass kept trying to swap ends with the front end & this was all happning @ 30 mph

if you got to run a DR on the street do the nitto ( they did great for me )

I heard the mt was a better tire inthe 315 cause the tread was different... maybe not. I ran 275 50 15 for the last year and I know all about the rear trying to swap with the front at 30 in the rain...

I think the M/T drag radials are still on galactic back order in a 315/35. I have been trying to get a set since november of last year, and they keep pushing the date further. Last I heard I was going to be October before they are released again. That's why I went with the Nitto's. They work pretty decent in the rain, and with about 15-20psi in them, getting them nice and hot, they hook pretty well too at the track.

I may just have to wait then, cause I really want a tire that fills the rim out well, and the nitto is not quite wide enough, it is about the size of a 295.
