I changed the master and slave on a buddy of mine's ranger. It takes forever to bleed. Major pain in the ass!!! You basically have to bang the clutch pedal down really HARD about 1000 times until you get all the air out. Just takes time and patience. Once you get all the air out of the line, the pedal will work.

Did he bench bleed the master cylinder? I'm almost positive that's the problem. The master cylinder points down, so the air always stays at the top. If the pedal is hooked up it keeps the piston from traveling the full length of the master cylinder. The outlet is at the bottom, so no matter how much you push, it never pushes all the air out.
You can try just unhooking the clutch pedal and move the rod by hand the full length. If that doesn't work, unbolt it from the firewall and point the master cylinder so that the outlet is at the highest point and push it that way. Good luck, it's a major pain.

yep you will have to bench bleed the master cyc. to get it to work fastest. i had to do the same on my old ranger. but on my f150 i did it the same way ya'll did and it just takes alot of time and a strong leg.
