How To Include Pictures In Threads / Signatures
A common question among users here is "How do I include pictures in posts / signatures?" so I thought it would be helpful to provide a How-To guide on the subject.
First, I would like to recommend that if you are putting a picture in your signature that you keep it relatively small. 100 pixels tall would be the maximum I would use. Why? Because each time a person reads a thread that you have posted in, they will have to download your signature picture while they are reading the thread. If your signature picture is huge, it slows down the process.
It's just plain courteous. ;)
Hosting Your Pictures
In order to include a picture in a post or your signature, you must host it somewhere. Hosting is nerd talk for "storing" so in English that just means you need to store your photo on a web server somewhere.
Chances are your Internet Service Provider (ISP) provides web space so that you can create a personal web page. That would be an excellent place to host your photos.
Or you can do what a lot of folks do and upload your photos to our gallery (http://www.tennesspeed.net/gallery/uploadphoto.php) (click the link) and use our facilities to host them. The downside to this is that users are only allowed a certain amount of space for photos in our gallery and each photo gets a Tennesspeed.net logo stamped on them. We add the logo to keep people from stealing pictures from us and using them elsewhere.
Okay, Now What?
Once you have uploaded your photos to your ISP web space or to our photo gallery, you need to obtain the URL (nerd talk for "address") of the photos that you want to include in your post or signature.
In this example, we are going to look at a photo in our own gallery and then right-click on it with our mouse. This brings up a small menu box in our web browser with various options. The option we want to choose is the one for properties.

When you click on the Properties option, you will be taken to pop-up window that looks something like the next screen shot. The piece of information you are interested in here is the Address field. This is the URL of the photo!

You can see that the Address is highlighted in that screen shot. The reason it is highlighted is that I have used my mouse to click on and select all of the address information. This lets me then press <Control + C> on my keyboard and copy that information for later use.
Now, you want to close the properties window and go back to the post or signature where you want to add the photograph.
Where you want the photograph to appear, you will use the vB Code (http://www.tennesspeed.net/forums/misc.php?action=bbcode#imgcode) (click for tutorial) for including an Image. Basically you past the URL copied from the photo properties window between the IMG and /IMG tags.
If this is a post rather than a signature, you can click the IMG button above the editing window and paste the URL into the pop-up. Paste by pressing <Control + V> on your keyboard. :)

That's all there is to it! :)
