Contrary to what might be popular opinion, Tennesspeed.net is not just for domestic cars. From the very outset, we have sought to include import enthusiasts as well and would like to see their numbers continue to grow here.
Please help us out by spreading the word about this site among your friends and fellow enthusiats. Maybe as time passes and more "off shore" cars continue to be represented here, some of the natural bias toward American iron will balance out.
Of course... the rice comments may persist in some areas of the site, but we will do our absolute best to ensure that this particular forum is kept free of that sort of thing. Besides, I'm sure that there are plenty of nicknames you have for our domestic cars too. ;)

I'm going to add a few notes here to new Tennesspeed members who happen to prefer sport compacts (myself being one).
- You will find that Tennesspeed is not very similar to most import/sport compact forums on the net. For one thing, there is a LARGE number of Domestic owners who keep up with the Sport Compact market, as they find it interesting. So expect there to be debate and confrontation at times concerning Sport Compacts.
- Look around for a few minutes at the threads in this section, and you'll notice that the large large majority are performance oriented. Most of the long-standing members of Tennesspeed in the Sport Compact arena are gearheads, we just have fewer cylinders and like trying to do more with less. We don't generally get into discussions about body kits, which headlights to use, how much neon you should put on your ride, etc. So if your car has large amounts of appearance modifications and is relatively light on performance mods, you may quickly find yourself at the end of a few jokes. Recognize right now, if you're not interested in making your econobox faster, you probably won't enjoy yourself here, so you may wish to look for other forums that will welcome you with open arms. Not trying to chase you off, just warning you up front.
- Those things having been stated, you will find some of the most intelligent and fact based discussion concerning Import/Sport Compact performance anywhere on the net. Those of us who love our slowish little four bangers (and 6s and rotaries) tend to be near fanatical about them.
- If you're a dirt pounding Mustang (or Corvette or F-body) owner who thinks the sun rises and sets only in America and that anything less than 8 cylinders is an abomination will be ridiculed in this forum if you decide to start ripping on people for their choice of vehicles. Truth is, we have some imports that participate in this forum that would be more than able to show the majority of Domestic V8 owners their tailights (myself obviously not included :D), so recognize that choice in vehicle will be respected around here. You have to right to drive your car and make it faster, and so do we.
- Finally, lately it seems you can't pick up a import/sport compact oriented magazine without getting overrun with drifting stuff. You'll note that the large majority of what is covered in those magazines are sanctioned competitions at open tracks. So it should be at Tennesspeed. The majority of import and domestic owners at Tennesspeed don't understand drifting, don't really see the point in it, and truthfully don't consider it a motorsport. We're not saying you can't enjoy it, but it seems rather ridiculous to most of us. Part of that goes to the fact that there have been no legally sanctioned Drift Competitions in or around Nashville as yet (though there is one coming to Atlanta soon), and thus discussions of participating in drifting will be seen as discussing illegal activities which we do not condone or allow (see the Rules). If you want to just discuss drifting in general, be forewarned that while certain members will jump all over the topic and openly discuss it (Dorifto, we love ya, really), the large majority will probably find something in your post to make fun of, and will probably do so. It all goes back to realizing that while Tennesspeed is far from Mob Rule, the Mob does like to express their opinion, and if you can't handle that, you may want to visit www.drift411.com or other drift sites that may be more appealing to you. (We have no affiliation with drift411, it's just the first one that came to mind.)
Overall, we're here to have fun. There are rules to be followed, follow them. Recognize that while you're amongst friends, you'll have to prove your worth first, then you can start talking smack. It's pretty hard to pass off BS around us, as we tend to be the world's best BS sniffers for some reason. As long as you have a sincere interest in performance, you'll find us as one of the best communities in the world. You don't have to have a fast car. Heck, look at me. I've got one of the slowest cars on this site, but I have a sincere interest in making it faster (so I can finally beat Tungsten one day  ). Have the same desire, and you'll have a ball here.
Oh, and thanks for coming. Please, try the fish.

I'd also like to state that we have about 50 of the new Tennesspeed.net decals on hand and that if any of the import / sport compact owners are interested in obtaining one or two for their vehicles, let me know and I'll do my best to get them to you.
As everyone knows, vinyl adds horsepower. ;)
