Bad gas @ Star Mart on Shelby

bad gas @ Shelby ave. Shell (1001 shelby)
Slight NWS~ mods, feel free to edit if i'm out of line..
    WARNING:
i filled up with 93 at the shell on shelby and got about 1/3 mile before the rsx died.
my cousin got 20 bucks worth @ the same pump in her gmc truck, it stumbled all the way to her house. we spent the rest of the day draining both vehicles fuel tanks using a fuel pressure tester (thanks to marky mark @ napa)
the truck ran fine after fresh gas, the acura missed a little on the way home so i'm taking it to the dealer and going for the gold. got pics, reciepts, and there's now a sign on the pumps saying out of 93..
wish me luck and don't buy gas there.

store worker/manager was a jackass. he first ignored my request to speak to manager, then ignored me standing there until I lost it and went on a pms rant about what'd just happened.. said 'nothing wrong with my gas' then, "i'm not the manager, come back tommorrow', "i don't have to tell you my name for this report" then, 'if you don't leave, i'm calling 911" well, i was 2 seconds away from being nasty annie and giving him a real good reason to call 911 & I left for a second. i went back in after he threatened to call the police on me for being outside/loitering and told him to come look @ the Milk coming out of the pumps, he came out like a smart ass and pumped a clear cup full of this milky piss and shut the hell up after i snapped a few pics of him and the gas.. ha!

    "YOU LEAVE NOW!!"

gas that store worker pumped into a cup

ever tried to run 30 gallons of gas thru a 1/4 inch tube? PSHHHT.
this is the milk coming out... you can really tell it by looking at the gallon water jug full of it.

got a busy day ahead of me. already spent an hour on hold with shells' corp. offices.. wish me luck

Thanks to Sawnuoff.. he drove from maury county & saved the day!

Damn. I hope you get somewhere with this. Is it a independent owner or a chain? Contact the city to find out who the owner is. Then contact the news. That'll piss them off.

I'm so sorry you had to deal with that. That would set me livid.

This happened a few years ago to one of our customers. The person contacted the news and things were resoved rather quickly. Then with in a few weeks it went from a Citgo to a BP and a new owner.

In the long run you will be glad you didn't go upside his head but at the time it probably was what was going through your head.

That really sucks you and your friend had to go through that. I think the news would love a story like this.
March 22nd 2007, better known as the day Tubby left.

April 6th 2007 Good Friday, better known as the day Kentucky hired Billy Gillispie.

March 27th 2009, the day Billy Gillispie was fired.

March 31st 2009, Kentucky hired John Calipari.

I filled up at a shell this morning off of 24, and it stumbled all the way to school which is in cookeville. I probably wont buy shell ever again unless i have too.

Its not Shell...usually. Unfortunatly alot of your idependents buy their gas from the cheapest broker. But some owners dont know they may have a leak in there tanks or the seals are bad in the well lids. Moisture gets in and ruins the fuel.

I know you transport(ed) Coca Cola, but am wondering if you have more information like this.

Like, Shell has nitrogen. Do all Shell stations use the same fuel that is different than anyone else?

Conoco-Phillips claims to not use ethanol in their gasoline. They'd definitely have a different supplier.

There are things like Techron at Chevron, and Invigorate at BP. Do all these stations have different gas and use different tankers? Is all the gas really the same? Does Kroger have the same gas as BP? Who do I trust?

When tuning shortly after Shell switched to nitrogen, we started to notice larger knocksum counts in cars that did not have it before. Nothing super drastic, but the tuning was effected enough that we had to reduce timing a degree or two. Switching to BP, the knocksum went down in my own car.

I would love to hear your input on this. I want a good 93 base to tune from.

It depends on the station. Your single owner gas stations are who you have to worry about. I deal with these people all the time. So I hear alot of conversations with them and their fuel people. I also run into alot of the drivers making deliveries of fuel. It also helps that my father is in the liquid tank business. He doesnt deal with fuel delivery anymore. But a few years ago he was a third party delveiry supplier for some of your larger fuel companies. He would tell me were stations really got their fuel from. I know here in NC Hess and Exxon usually keep there fuels seperate from other brands. They own their own tanks here. But its the Citgos and the BPs also the cheap companies that usually buy what ever is left over and cheap. I fill up at the Exxons only that I know the owners of.

    Duuuuuuuuuuude.
You rate BP with Citgo? I rate Citgo with piss water. I thought BP used Amoco fuels.

Where I live, its Shell (most stations), Kroger (always crazy crowded), BP, or Exxon. I have no idea who is good, who is independent, etc. I don't want to datalog every gas station in Cool Springs, especially when they might not get the same gas from the same source everytime.

In short, I want someone I can trust.

Now in TN, the BPs there are a chain I think. Isnt Mapco BP? Some of the Shells are chain too, right? You all have a different pipe line. I think you get your fuel from the Gulf. Wilmington is a hub for the east coast. But I dont know where the lines are drawn.

There was a Shell around the Boro that caused quite a bit of damage to one of our clients work vans here recently, but they got it resolved quickly and the repair bill taken care of! I havnt filled up at Shell since that happened and now this really convinces me to continue avoiding them. BP all the way LOL
