No. Those are civic / RSX coilovers from the looks of it.

Mazda 3 coilovers look like the ones in the original post.

    Or this:

I think you're still confused because the strut on the mazda 3 does not have a clevice that clamps to the steering knuckle like most cars.

ok. if you look at the piece that broke. there is nothing attached to it. all the attachment points are on the sleeve.

Aha! That's not the shock that broke, it's collar that fits over it.

So those fit like early 90s Hondas? The shock fits into something that is bolted to the A arm/knuckle?

BC's are from Tawain, not the same as Chinese. I have considered getting a set for the Miata, but $1k is just to close to FCM's. I need them on the cheap.

but the pic shows that the shock is broken, not the collar. unless I am looking at it wrong. All the collar mounting points look intact to me, unless there is one still on the car that is not pictured. We're getting close Mike, I can feel it

The collar is the bit that has the BC sticker on it right? Brackets for the brake hose and ABS cable? That should be threaded inside for the shock to thread into.

The part (on the bottom) that broke off is not part of the shock, it's a pipe welded onto the bottom of the collar. That pipe fits into the steering knuckle (red arrow in the photo i posted earlier).

aha! that is where we differ. The part that broke off is NOT welded to the collar. If it was you would not be able to adjust ride height. It is absolutely part of the shock. If he raised his ride height, less of the piece that broke would be sticking out.

At my ride height, mine look like the pic in post 254. If I lowered my car 2 more inches, mine would look like the op's coilover

Here's what I imagine it looks like:

The dark grey part is the shock insert, and the black outline is the collar for height adjustment if it were transparent.

I'd have to see it in person I guess. If it is like your drawing above, then why did they put that extra, smaller piece below the collar? Doesn't make sense. Until I see it, I have to believe it's like mine and the protruding part is part of the shock.

bob, what you are thinking is an attachment point is where the brake line attaches. it mounts to the knuckle via a clamp-attachment

You wouldn't be able to adjust the shock height if the part that broke off was part of the shock instead of the collar.
